Sunflowers for my friend Ellen

Belated birthday wishes for a friend from afar
Oceans and continents divide us
Time takes away memories
but not the friendship forged
in our teenage years.

Belated Valentine's Day post

If the world were a rose
let me be the petals
that fold around you

If I were the rose

at another time and space

If you only you can smell
the Lavender flowers
as I could
when I was there
If only we could
always be surrounded by beauty
as I was
when I was there

'If ' is just a word
we use when we wish for something
that we believe we really need
to be cheerful and happy
At times we do not see possibilities
until they materialise before our eyes
like I did not know that lavender flowers
could be white or pink as well
Or that they must be shaped in the way
that we have been used to
So many flowers, so many photos taken
of lavenders, if only...

Allamanda for Margaret

Sometimes I like to use a post to mark certain happenings in my life. Today I would like to put on record that I met my friend Margaret whom I lost touch with 23 years ago and no one would believe where our reunion took place. This one's for you Margaret - the purplish allamanda flower that I think is known as 'Jamaican sunset' probably because the petals, though purplish, have a yellowish tinge and I guess that is how the sky looks when the sun goes down in Jamaica.
