In the next few days, expect to see spectacular blooming of the Golden Penda trees like these. They are examples of what you will be able to see in private housing estates, along expressways and in our parks. I have photographed these trees at different times, in different places and captured them at various stages of blooming and decay. Why? Because they were there at that point in time when I was looking at them. Er, maybe it is just obsessive behaviour but I am ending up with too many photos and diminishing storage space. What could I do with them I wonder.

This flower and the fruits are similar to 
the Golden Penda. I searched the internet for images of this flower using "Xanthostemon" and "penda" as the key words but could not find any. The closest that I got was a flower called "Crimson penda" but there were no pictures.
I came across images of a flower from New Zealand that looks similar but I cannot be sure. It is called metrosideros umbellatus or Southern Rata.
