The bee was a blurry image
the flower a constant
I tried to get the perfect short
by being extremely patient

The bee was too busy to pause
therefore sharpness was lost
blame my camera for it was slow
but I got good pictures of the flower.

This flower is used in prayer offerings by the Hindus. This flower is fragrant. It always reminds me of sea anemones but it is not the flower that determines the name of this tree. If you have seen the fruits, you will know why. Between fruits and flowers, I am more attracted to the latter and this being the case, I have somehow forgotten about the fruits even though they were dangling heavily from the trunk of the trees.

The fragrance from these flowers is heavenly - so light and pure. This morning, the cannonball trees in West Coast Park were laden with the anemone-like flowers and mature fruits. It has been quite a while since I last saw these flowers. The sun was shining brightly but there was a lovely breeze blowing as the park is right next to the sea. Seeing these flowers made me forget about the scorching rays of the sun as I only wanted to capture their beauty so that I can share them with more people here.

Cannonball Tree - Couroupita guianensis

This tree originally from South America is now common in our parks and can also be seen by the side of some of our roads. On this particular tree in West Coast Park, was present the various stages of development of the fruit beginning with the flower bud and ending with the cannonball-like fruit.
