Frangipani crazy

Frangipani (Plumeria) flowers as seen over time. I was there when they were at their best.

Calotropis gigantea - Crown flower (牛角瓜 - niu2 jiao3 gua1)

Flowers that I will vote as most unique amongst all that I have seen and photographed. These shrubs were thriving on Sentosa Island when I chanced upon them in the early part of this year. They are like jewels that have been handcrafted to perfection. It was the most thrilling find of my flower-watching life.
Common Name: Crown Flower, Giant Milkweed, Ivory Plant
Origin: India, Indonesia

Bamboo

If days could be described in terms of flowers, plants or trees, then today must belong to the Bamboo - A sunny, peaceful Sunday that comes once in seven days. A day of rest, a day of retreating into one's thoughts and a day when the sounds are like those of the rustling bamboo leaves.

Do bamboos flower? I have never seen bamboo flowers. A friend who was working on her masters' dissertation in Biology years back told me that her research was to see how to induce flowering in bamboo plants. I hope she met with success. I never thought to ask her when I saw her recently in Taiwan. Next time, there will always be a next time.

Osmoxylon lineare - Miagos Bush

If flowers had personalities, then these must be how they are manifested. I came across a row of these shrubs, not expecting to see such varienty in the blooms confined to just a few shrubs. I could have spent a whole day doing their portraits except that the sun was going down and the light was fading and I had to stop photographing them at some point in time.

Hibiscus flower

I do not own this hibiscus plant. How I wish I do so that I can enjoy the flowers at leisure instead of having to stop my car by the road to take snapshots of flowers in a hurry everytime I spot lovelies like this one here.

Just a wish that can take its time to come true. As it is I am content to just enjoy what nature deals out to me and all I need is to keep my eyes open for beauty and my camera next to me at all times.

Torch Ginger

A picture is worth a thousand words. What more can I say in presenting a flower as lovely as this?

Jacaranda filicifolia

It's the colour that attracts me. I had to go back to get a closer look. This time I saw seed pods as well. As I was taking these shots I could hear people talking loudly in their apartments. Perhaps they thought I was a property agent. I hope they looked out of their window and gave some of their attention to these flowering trees before they shed the flowers completely.
Common name: Jacaranda
Family: Bignoniaceae
Origin: South America
