Hort Park gentle beauties

I miss the sun upon the grass
lighting up the flowers
energising them with its rays
I miss the walks in good weather
when all is bright and cheerful
when butterflies come out to play
So where has the sun been hiding
happy to let rainfall take over the day
I miss the sun, the warmth and all
Give me back my sunshine, I pray

Heliconia

Wings that take you away
on a dream flight across the sea
From Sentosa to the sky
follow me and you will fly.

Happy Mothers' Day

You will not know how a mother feels
unless you have brought up a kid
from cuddling stage to nagging stage
to a stage when you sometimes want
to jump ship and say be done with love
I just want to swim ashore and be myself
Sometimes a mother does feel like that
A present, a dinner or an outing for a mother
is nothing but a commercial message
or a chance to make one less guilty for not
thinking of mum except on her birthday and Mother's Day.

A mother should be thought of and loved everyday of the year
Make my day without a date to remind you my dear children
that a mother deserves attention in more days than just one
Shower her with your love and concern all the time.

Give a mother a Happy Mother's Day, not just for today
but for as many days as is possible in her life.

Farewell to a Friend

I did not say farewell
We did not get to meet
Now you are gone
Not unexpected but too soon.

The leaves rustle in my garden
They whisper in my ears
I say Goodbye to you in my heart
and wish you a safe journey
to your new home
to be with your Lord.

Goodbye friend
I did not know you well
But I wish for you what
a good friend would now
that suffering has ended
and you have found joy
at last.

Flowers in the Singapore Botanic Gardens

Rain, rain come again
Drench our petals
fill the ponds
ease our pain
We bloom to survive
but we need some relief
from weather so hot and dry
Save us, save us or we die
Canna and Saraca flowers.
Four types of plant gracing a fence - two types of morning glory and the bleeding heart vine. Spot the bud of the passion flower.
Water lilies at the peak of their beauty and the golden lotus banana flower doing fine.

Bougainvillea

Will I outlive this delightful shrub of mine
When the time comes and I stare
at an empty space out there
and wish that it could have had more time
with me?

Unknown flower

Tomorrow is another day
May it be a blessed one
filled with sunshine and
balmy breezes
and peace on earth

Sunflower and Lotus buds

Unopened hearts struggling within
while the sun sends invitations to unfurl
Buds of doubts delay a new beginning
as the wind cast premonitions on its way
The heart of the flower beats cautiously
waiting for the ill winds to pass
The flower of the heart longs to bloom
longing for the daylight to come fast.

Golden showers of blessings

Has Nature ever bloomed in a war-torn town?
Have you ever seen flowers in a background
filled with poverty and misery?
If there were flowers would anyone have noticed?
If there were none, would they be missed?
I believe flowers bloom where there is love for the land
and a determination to safeguard peace.

Bougainvillea

Today, my world was peaceful
My world was free from pain
A world that was free from threat
from starvation,
a roof over my head
and the sun shining outside
A world that was blessed.

Flowers I would like to have in my garden

I dug into my past records
of blooms I came across
years gone, flowers long faded
their sweetness remain,
their image captured.
