Hortpark blooms

Pulai trees are flowering everywhere. In the Hortpark in the carpark area a few trees were dressed in freshly bloomed white clusters of fragrant flowers.

Passion flowers this time round are more beautiful because of my Canon 400D.

Pontederia cordata var. lanceolata

Today, while the blossoms still cling to the vine

Too late to see any flowers. These palm trees present, instead, gems like precious rubies glittering in the strong morning sunlight as if they were wearing their best jewellery for those who took time to appreciate their beauty. For my eyes only because no one else was around except a doting grandfather ushering his tricycle-riding grandson home and then I was truly alone. On my way to the carpark, these regal-looking Pulai trees beckoned and I responded to their telepathic call. I almost expected royalty to appear beneath their impressive forms.

Pulai Tree - Alstonia angustiloba or Alstonia scholaris?

Where was this tree seen? In Kentridge Park.
When were the photos taken? July 2006
What do I think about this encounter with the tree?
I think not many people have seen a Pulai tree covered with such
beautiful blooms in their lifetime.
How do I feel? I feel blessed to have seen this tree at the height of its beauty and glad that I have these photos to remind me of such beauty when it is there no more.

Alstonia angustiloba or Alstonia scholaris? I just found out that there are two species and from my photos and those in the books I have, I cannot tell the difference.
