Jacaranda filicifolia

It's the colour that attracts me. I had to go back to get a closer look. This time I saw seed pods as well. As I was taking these shots I could hear people talking loudly in their apartments. Perhaps they thought I was a property agent. I hope they looked out of their window and gave some of their attention to these flowering trees before they shed the flowers completely.
Common name: Jacaranda
Family: Bignoniaceae
Origin: South America

Jacaranda trees

I seldom see Jacaranda trees in our parks or lining the sides of our roads. I wonder why. Today the purple flowers caught my eye as I was driving past this condominium. As there were no cars behind me, I quickly wound down the window, whipped out my faithful Canon IXUS 800 and took three shots in succession until I saw a car appearing in my rear-view mirror. I did not have time to take some close-up pictures of the flowers. These are all I have for now. I'll return for more.
