Smelling the flowers

I've never seen anyone smelling flowers in the park and with that thought, I decided to add a new dimension to my way of appreciating flowers. The first cluster of flowers I saw that invited me to check out if they were fragrant or now were these Ixora-like flowers. I am not positive that they are Ixoras because the leaves are huge - a feature that I am unable to associate with the Ixora plants that I have come across. This plant is strange. Where did those leaves come from? I went nearer for a close-up shot of these flowers and breathed in the soft fragrance around them.
Next, white fluffy flowers that looked like they belonged to the rain tree.
Flowers that have given way to seeds - Saga tree.
The flowers were tiny and I did not attempt to smell them for I would have fallen off the steel bridge had I tried to.
The leaves, the flowers and the seed pods in the background.
Unknown fruit.

I smelled these Saraca flowers. It was light and sweet.
This plant resembles the Jatropha podagrica.

My favourite plumeria specie.

The Autograph Series

I found an autograph book from my primary school days. It made me laugh to read those very 'lame' entries from my classmates. Autograph books were in fashion then as almost everyone had one and before we went our separate ways in secondary school these books were passed around the class for parting words to be recorded.

Reading the autographs I collected, I wonder what has become of my friends then such as this girl called Laura who wrote:

"Hope our friendship last and never die." From a girl whom you always know, Laura (James Bond alias Sean Connery)
This plant (Jatropha podarica) reminds me of her because she was a smart kid, had good grades, very well liked by teachers, spoke very good English as her family was English speaking. They raised chickens in the backyard of their house which was some kind of a government quarter and once in a while she would be carrying a bag of eggs for the teacher who bought them from her.

Jatropha podagrica - Gout Stick

A long time ago, my neighbour gave me a pot of plant that I thought was very interesting and I accepted her gift. Although the flowers were not very attractive, the appearance of the plant seemed to portray a determination to be liked. It had beautiful leaves that were large complementing a cluster of small orange-coloured flowers supported by a long stalk. It was wonderful just as it was. It was a pity that I did not take good care of the plant because I was busy at work and had no time to treasure it. The plant died. My neighbour moved. What is lost is worth thinking about sometimes.
