Bukit Batok Nature Reserve

Late morning walk in Bukit Batok Nature Reserve.

Queen of Bukit Batok Nature Reserve

I nominate the Bat Lily as the Queen of Bukit Batok Nature Reserve. It is deserving of the title because each time I visit, these flowers are the most spectacular of all.

Red and yellow flowers

Saraca tree flowers high above the ground.
Another specie of the Saraca tree closer to the ground.
Red, yellow and orange - cheerful colour combination for any flower.

Sanchezia speciosa.

Heliconia

I have heliconias in my garden. These were seen at Bukit Batok Nature Reserve close to noon. While people stay away from the sweltering heat, these flowers are most brilliant when the sun is shining brightly. And so I braved UV exposure to capture them with my camera for their brilliance was just too much to resist.

More of the Monstera deliciosa Swiss-cheese plant,

A ripening fruit of the Swiss-cheese plant. These shots were taken some years ago at the Singapore Botanic Gardens if I recall correctly.

Monstera deliciosa Swiss-cheese plant

Swiss Cheese plant or Dutch Lady?

Cycas revoluta

Cycads look like palms but are closely related to pines - that's what I learned today. These two cycads were fruiting in the Evolution Garden of the Singapore Botanic Gardens.
