Brunfleselsia calysina - Yesterday, today & tomorrow

Yesterday, life was hectic. Today, life is peaceful. Tomorrow, who knows what lies ahead? These flowers come in three shades of purple and when there are so many of them in a bush, you just have to feel happy that it is bursting with life.

Flowers for the next five days of this week.

Pentas lanceolata - four colours side by side

My appearance may be plain
and I do not have the looks
of the impressive Ixoras

I have no fragrance that enthralls
nor petals to die for and I am
easily dwarfed by my neighbours

What I lack in beauty and stature
I make up for with simplicity
and a chameleon of colours

Clematis aristata - Traveller's joy, Goatsbeard

The flowers of this climber originating from Australia has a light fragrance that suits its delicate appearance. I usually do not have the habit of smelling flowers and when I do take notice of the fragrance it must be because it is strong enough to attract my attention.

Wax Rose

Only one precious flower on this thorny shrub. A gift from a friend some years back, this plant survived my indifference and celebrates once in a while in this way. I am thankful for this single bloom even though sometimes I envy other people's plants that flower so effortlessly it seems to me. Somewhere I recall a line from some poem that goes something like "Lucy in the sky with diamonds, beautiful when only one is shining in the sky." Did I imagine this line or is there a poem somewhere like that, I wonder.

Textures - flowers in the Hortpark

Familiar flowers that I have seen many times in various parks. This time I would like to focus on the textures of the petals - smooth, velvety, rough, veined, lined. From the big picture to the details, from the sense of sight to the sense of touch, from appreciation of beauty to the appreciation of construction.

Morning glory
Hibiscus
Banana

Time fillers - Until I set my eyes on some flowers in Singapore again

Like performers at a carnival...Like a new punk hairdo (Globe artichoke)..Like a baby girl's bottle brush...Like the flowers have gone out of my life...

Moth Orchids

These are moth orchids and I saw them in one of the cool glass houses of the Hortpark. I guess it must be their shape that gave them such a name.

Spider lilies in Kentridge Park at sunset

Spider lilies, the air around them has a pleasant fragrance.
Mother and child
Beauty with flowing long hair.
Old man.
How flowers must feel when the sun sets.
