Hippeastrum hybrid - gift from a friend

Some months ago I visited a friend and came home with this plant. Now it is flowering for the first time! What a lovely present.

Oh it is so beautiful. Love the colour of the flower. Is it also a kind of lily?

I grew up thinking that this flower is a lily. It was only recently that I found out that this flower and the lily come from two different families in the plant kingdom. I am too lazy to read up further beyond that. Anyway as you said, it is a beautiful flower and it is pretty long-lasting cos it is still doing fine in my garden. :-)
