"Two is company, three's a crowd" - This was one of many proverbs I had to memorise in Primary school. Three points make a triangle, in painting flowers the advice is to paint uneven numbers, so three flowers in a vase will look more appealing than two or four or six. Three in a group can be pretty good company if they are friends and three is a good number in Chinese because it sounds like 'live'.
