Solandra

There are many species of this flower such as the Solandra grandiflora, Solandra longiflora and Solandra maxima. I have no idea about the precise identity of these solandra flowers that I came across in West coast Park one sunny morning. The whole bunch of them looked like they were out in full force to enjoy the sun while they can. I put up with the sun's rays beating on my face and hands to take full enjoyment of these flowers while I can.

I am still in shock, this flowers amaze me! I don't think that I will ever be able to stop saying that they are so beautiful! What a great idea, that the National Parks Board brings in flowers from other countries. Maybe if I ever do go to Singapore I will visit these parks.

Yes, our parks are wonderful, thanks to the efforts and creativity of our National Parks Board. Do browse their website to see our various parks.

You could also look at my web albums on my visits to these parks over the years here:

Singapore is currently hosting a Garden Festival for 4 days. The floral displays are simply beautiful. I will upload the photos taken next week so as not to spoil it for people who have not visited the show. YOu can google Singapore Garden Festival 2010 and find out more.

In a few years' time our Gardens by the Bay will be ready and that will be the time to come to Singapore :-)
