Today's flower

Today is the first day of the Singapore Garden Festival 2010 at Suntec City. I was there with a friend half an hour after the doors were opened and we spent a total of 5 hours there including taking a late breakfast and a late lunch at the food court there. As expected I took countless photos using my Canon powershot and my Canon IXUS. However, I shall not upload the photos before the festival ends on Sunday. I feel that people have to be there to truly enjoy the beauty of the displays and to admire the individual floral arrangements as well as to smell the fragrance of flowers that come from countries afar.

Alice - 5 hours on the first day and then I went back again on Friday with another friend visiting from Japan and then again on Sunday because my husband was interested to go. Surely I should get special concession for the next Garden Festival.

Camma - I posted a few more photos taken with a DSLR so the quality should be better. I can almost hear your response and am so glad that the photos have given you so much joy. I am also not sure why it is called a flamingo flower. I guess it oould be the colours or just an overall impression especially when you see many flowers instead of just one.
Another name for this flower is Heart flower.

Wow 3 times? I missed it cause by the time I wanted to visit, my friend told me some of the flowers are dying. Next year, I must remember to go during the first few days...lol. Yes, you definitely should get a concession...lol. I think I wont miss much cause your slides show me a lot. :)

Alice, you should be there to smell the flowers! Yes it is not being kiasu to go on the first day for the reason your friend gave - wilting flowers. I think by the time they give me a concession I would qualify as a senior citizen hahah
