This morning, I spotted an interesting plant outside a pub. There were many other types growing in pots on the pavement. I only had less than 10 minutes to photograph them. So I whipped out my Canon IXUS 850 and did a series of shots not for the sake of entering any competition but just to frame and capture the way they were. This is my way of observing nature.

Hi Slurp,before you gave me the name of the plant, I did attempt to look through the 1001 Garden Plants book page by page for a picture of the plant. I must have seen stars after flipping through more than 50 pages and so missed it on page 86. I also looked through the few guide books on flowers, plants and trees published by the Singapore Science centre that I have and could not find a picture of it. I have quite a number of books on plants and flowers etc because books are my main shopping weakness. You can check out these books in the very first post of this blog. I have bought some more since. I don't have time to read each of them thoroughly and only use them as references and to enjoy the pictures whenever I can. The name of the plant given in the book is Christia vespertilionis but some websites also refer to it as 'Christia obcordata'. I have changed the name to the former since my reference is the 1001 Garden Plants in Singapore book.
actually, i happen to saw this while flipping for another lately.
yeah, it's really time consuming going thru all these books, let alone figuring the right one to use.
well, I just enjoy the learning process :)
